The concept for Life Without Green emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic, a period that encouraged Sanjaya to reflect deeply on the relationship between human existence and the natural world. He viewed the global crisis as a warning that highlighted the vulnerability of humanity and the importance of respecting the environment.
At the heart of Life Without Green is a critical examination of the conflict between human development and environmental preservation. As cities expand and industrialization accelerates, natural landscapes are increasingly replaced by concrete structures and polluted environments.
Working with oil and acrylic paints, Sanjaya translated his environmental concerns into expressive visual compositions. Drawing from Expressionism, Modern Art, and Abstract Art, he used artistic interpretation to communicate ideas beyond realistic representation.
Green represents the natural world: its vitality, balance, growth, and essential role in sustaining life. A world without green symbolizes the consequences of environmental destruction and the possibility of a future in which humanity loses its connection to nature.
